Welcome to A Sister’s Village

We are a nonprofit to help young families thrive. We understand without safe housing or full stomachs everything else can be obsolete. We strive to ensure the families we service are not living a provisional existence but are pushing for improving one step and one village at a time.

Our Programs

  • Nourish and Nurture: Free Breakfast and Playtime for Families

This program is designed to support young mothers and their children under 7 years old with free breakfast and playtime at local play places both indoors and outside. The goal is to provide a sense of community, and socialization along side a nutritious meal.

  • Mom Micro Village

Our unique 'Micro Villages' program pairs young mothers or soon-to-be mothers with peers in similar life stages for mutual support and growth. We prioritize safe housing and nutrition education, recognizing these as foundational to the well-being of our families. The program teaches the 3 mothers how to be a functioning village to support each other and their children.

  • Housing & Meal Grants

For families that do not qualify for our micro village program, we offer housing grants and support to families in need. This includes a network of private landlords to connect with our families who are part of the housing and food grant program.

Our Vision

At A Sister's Village, Inc., we are dedicated to empowering young families by fostering a nurturing and supportive environment. We understand that the journey of motherhood, especially at a young age, can be both challenging and isolating. Our mission is to address these challenges by creating a robust support system that revolves around the formation of mom hubs, or 'villages', where young mothers can connect, grow, and thrive together.

Our unique approach involves pairing each mom in our program with two other mothers who have children of similar ages or due dates. This matching is meticulously done through an extensive personality test to ensure compatibility and a supportive dynamic. By doing so, we aim to cultivate a sense of community, belonging, and mutual support.

Central to our ethos is the belief that safe housing and proper nutrition are fundamental to the well-being of our participant families. Recognizing the critical role that a stable and nurturing environment plays, we provide essential resources and education in these areas. Our housing initiative ensures that economically disadvantaged young families have access to safe and secure homes, while our nutrition education program equips them with the knowledge and skills needed for healthy living.

In essence, A Sister's Village, Inc. is more than just a support program; it is a movement toward building resilient, self-sufficient, and interconnected communities of young families.
